Scott Carpenter’s Personal 1:1 Fake OMEGA Speedmaster Can Be Yours for $1.5 Million

By ART

After a series of rigorous testing, NASA chose the perfect fake OMEGA Speedmaster as the official timepiece of the Space Program starting in 1964. The chronograph was originally made for race car drivers and there were certainly other options in contention — for instance, the Breitling Navitimer that legendary astronaut Scott Carpenter wore on his first flight in ‘62 — but the cheap replica Omega Speedmaster came out the ultimate victor.

To commemorate the groundbreaking Apollo 11 voyage to the Moon in 1969, AAA quality replica OMEGA commissioned a series of special-edition Speedmaster Professional pieces made specifically for the men and women who were part of the Space Program at the time. Up for sale on Wind Vintage is the model that belonged to the late Carpenter, who was part of the Mercury Seven and the fourth American to venture into space.
Made from 18k gold, each copy watch featured the giftee’s name on the back with a sequential number in the series. While numbers 1 and 2 were reserved for President Nixon and Vice President Agnew, numbers 3 through 28 were given to past and present members of NASA — 26 of which were astronauts — in order of who had been with the organization the longest. Offered in excellent condition, Carpenter’s super clone watch is number 6 in the series.

If you have $1.5 million to spare and want to purchase a historical piece of horology, head over to Wind Vintage to purchase Scott Carpenter’s personal Swiss made fake OMEGA Speedmaster Professional.
